Discussion

This spit, located on the eastern edge of the dry valley, in the south-eastern corner of area 12AD, was excavated to define ditch 012AD09064 and post hole lines 012AD07070, 012AD07071 and 012AD07200, all oriented along the length of the dry valley edge. The material removed was generally a medium sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with 5-10% chalk inclusion rates. No daub or charcoal flecks were noted. Unusually, a high ratio of animal bones to objects was found (although this is mirrored in spit 012AD08743 just to the west)
